IPL - Minor changes CSK can make to push further towards playoffs.

After 4 consecutive losses CSK beat RCB and have made their presence felt in the IPL. Let's look at how CSK can start progressing with 9 games ahead. They have 3 games to play at Pune, 2 games in DY Patil, 2 games at Wankhade, and1game at Brabourne.

Utilization of batting till the end.

CSK has got good depth in their batting line-up and needs to make use of it. Ruturaj Gaikwad has not been at his best scoring less than 50 runs in 5 matches is a concern. When he was opening with Faf they both complemented each other by negating pace and spin. But now Ruturaj's weakness again seam is exposed and is unable to make a big score.

Robbie can now step forward and play the majority of pace and Ruturaj can play an anchor role. After the PP he can start finding the gaps and scoring. Dube now has a wide range of shots as compared to previous seasons where he could not find a perfect balance.

Pretorius should make a comeback to the playing XI ahead of Jordan/Bravo. He made a good impact in the 2 matches he played but was replaced with Jordan which does not seem to be a good move.

Bowling changes

With the wickets getting two-paced Pretorius has many varieties of slower ones deceiving the batters. With not much pace he has made an impact for SA in the past by bringing in good variations and getting wickets at regular intervals.

Bringing in the likes of wrist-spinner Prashanth Solanki while the games are played in Wankhade and DY Patil. Solanki has played a majority of his cricket in the Mumbai suburbs and would have good knowledge of how the wicket behaves. Having a wrist spinner is always handy, particularly at Wankhade where the ball grips and turns. He along with Theekshana could form a good pair.

With 3 matches remaining at Pune, spinners have not had much success here with the side boundaries being very small and the wicket aiding the pacers. CSK can bring in the likes of Hangargekar or Adam Milne who can swing and hit harder lengths here. Playing for MH in the domestic circuit Hangargekar can come in handy and can even bat lower down the order.

With the bowling looking weak CSK's batting needs to come good in all the matches and have to score at least 15 runs above par for their bowlers to defend with.
