Womens CWC facts


1. Trinidad and Tobago & Jamaica participated in the inaugural edition of the Women's World Cup held in England 1973. WI as a team started representing from 1993 and are now playing their 7th WC in New Zealand.




2. Sophie Devine and Rachael Priest played their 1st WC in 2009 as a teenager batting at no 10 and 11    respectively. They have now come a long way, more than a decade by going up the order and taking the opening spot. Rachel Priest is not part of the ODI setup but is a T20 star.

3.  The top 3 wicket-takers of the 2005 women's WC are all Indians.



     Neetu David - 20 wickets.

     Amita Sharma - 14 wickets.

     Jhulan Goswami - 13 wickets.

 This is the 1st time in the history of Indian cricket in both men's and women's cricket that all the 3       leading wicket-takers in an ICC tournament are from India. Presently Neetu David is the chairman of   selectors for the women's team.

4. Ashleigh Gardner became the 1st Indigenous Australian woman to play in a cricket World Cup.

5. Belinda Clark's 229* is the highest individual score by any woman in a cricket World Cup to date.



6.  Mithali Raj became the 1st woman to score seven successive half-centuries in WODIs.

7. Dane van Niekerk became the 1st bowler in International cricket to take 4 wickets without conceding a run. This happened in the 2017 WC when SA bowled out WI for 52 runs.

8. SA team became the 1st side to score more than 300 runs batting 2nd in women's ODI.
