1. Neeraj Chopra.
India won its 1st ever gold medal in track and field event at the Tokyo Olympics in the form of Neeraj Chopra. How he won was a treat to watch. 87.57m will forever be remembered by all the Indians which he threw in his 2nd attempt thereby winning him the gold.
2. Chelsea.
It was an all England derby at the Champions League with Mancity taking on Chelsea. Pep Guardiola was the most eager of the two managers who had not won a Champions League after joining City. But they had made good progress making it to the finals. Tuchel who joined Chelsea midway in January had a dream start. Kai Havertz who did not perform to his best along with Timo Werner showed his class when it was needed the most scoring a solitary goal thereby winning the Champions League.
3. Max Verstappen.
F1 2021 has been one of the best seasons where the Championship was decided only on the last lap of the season , such was the intensity. Lewis Hamilton was all set to win his 5th consecutive championship but things changed after a crash occurred and from there on Max took up the advantage by pitting and winning the much-awaited race of 2021. Before coming to this race only 2 points separated them.
4. Indian Hockey Bronze.
India had been going through a lean patch post-2000s. First, they couldn't qualify for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. From there on slowly India started making their presence feel back to the game they had dominated the most. Those 6 seconds in the end every Indian who was watching would have had his heart in his mouth. This comeback should be regarded as one of the best in Indian sporting history.
5. Daniil Medvedev vs Djokovic: US Open Finals.
Djokovic had the chance to win the Calendar slam and become the 3rd man after Budge and Rod Laver to win all the 4 slams in a single year. But it turned out to be the opposite with the next-gen Medvedev beating Djokovic and winning the US Open. Djokovic is now with 20 grand slams along with Federer and would need just 1 more to cross him.
6. Gabba win
India became the first team to beat Australia at Gabba after 1988. India was not having a full-strength squad as well with both Ashwin and Vihari suffering from injuries with their marathon knock in Sydney. So India went on with Natarajan and Sundar who performed to their best with Pant winning it single-handedly in the 2nd innings. Beating Australia with a strong squad in itself is very difficult but India had done it with their B team is what makes this win even more special.
