How can Indian team move ahead for next T20 WC in Australia keeping players physically and mentally fit.

India has been playing nonstop cricket since IPL last season staying inside biosecure bubbles. This could have affected the performances of the Indian team in the ongoing T20 WC. Bio bubbles have had a mental impact on many players. Take the likes of Maxwell who wanted to take a break from cricket for 4 months. Since his return, he has been at his best with both bat and ball.

What BCCI can do like other nations.

Even the greatest of players need to have a break to get themselves both mentally and physically prepared. England is one side who resumed cricket post-pandemic and has been playing nonstop without much gap in between series.

They can do that is because they play quite a different number of players in both red and white-ball formats. For eg Broad, Anderson and Robinson play only red ball and form the core here whereas Jordan Rashid forms the core in white-ball format. So having different players in different formats has helped England play cricket non-stop.

On the other hand, India plays mostly all players across formats. Bumrah, Shami along with many batters play all the 3 formats which can have a toll on their body and mind. Along with this all of them play IPL for 2 long months.

So India too needs to look to play different players across different formats like Pujara who only plays test cricket. Like him, BCCI needs to identify different players across formats so that players stay fresh and perform to their potential.

Scheduling.

India plays their next bilateral series from Nov 17, 2 days after WC ends. Where is the need to play a series so early? Is there any logic behind this? After the WC ends board needs to decide and review the performance of each player and then come to a conclusion rather the BCCI has started to select the squad for the NZ series in the middle of the WC itself.

Rohit Sharma most probably will be the new captain and with the next T20 WC only 11 months away he should play every series from here on to get along with this new team. But he has been in the bio bubble with the Indian team since January. Doesn't he require a break to start fresh?

There will be a new squad playing the T20 series against NZ but a captain needs to be there as the next WC is not very far. With 2 months of IPL and many tests and ODI series the more the captain knows the team the better it will be for the team to perform.
