Factors that made Australia T20 WC 2021 Champions?

Not many would have predicted Australia to win the ICC T20 WC 2021. Such has been the unpredictability of this T20 format. Many will have different reasons as to what went wrong but particularly in this format if one plan goes for a toss entire match collapses. Australia overcame all the struggles they had and have emerged champions for the very first time in T20 cricket.

Team Combination

1. Mitchell Marsh - He was made no 3 since the start of WI series and since then has been scoring runs consistently. In the absence of Smith Australia trying out Marsh has paid them dividends who was their hero in both the SF and the finals. A player like him who has good range of shots and SR will always be an asset for any team.

2. Sticking on their strengths.

Unlike many teams Australia went ahead with pace heavy bowling line up with Zampa being their lone specialist spinner. Ashton Agar being a top 10 bowler in T20 was made to sit a gamble that Australian took and paid off. Hazlewood and Zampa in particular have been the stand out performers with Zampa in particular having his dream T20 WC.

Zampa chipped in with crucial breakthroughs which had turned the complexion of the games although he did not have huge number of wickets to show in his kitty.

David Warner had come back with poor IPL season which could have had a dent in his game. But he once again proved that "form is temporary but class remains permanent". Having started the tournament on a poor note he got back to peak when the needed him the most in the knockouts scoring match defining knocks.

Luck factor.

Off all the captain Finch has had his luck throughout the tournament. This has definitely helped their fortunes although they have played very good cricket but toss has had its say. This has been one such T20 WC where toss has decided the fate before the game starts.
