CSK Preview - IPL 2021 Part 2

Having played 7 matches in IPL 2021 CSK are 2nd in the points table. This has been a great start considering the previous edition where they could not catch up with the momentum of the league and crashing out eventually. But the 1st half was played entirely in India with small-sized boundaries and high scoring venues compared to UAE.

The 2nd half would look completely different with the kind of pitches and the boundary size. Not many have been cricket off late and that was the reason why CSK started their camp in UAE 1 month before. But this won't be as sufficient as match practice nevertheless a much-experienced side.

Squad.
CSK, Dhoni, IPL

There won't be many changes according to Dhoni as he hardly changes the playing XI. We could perhaps see Sai Kishore making his debut during the latter parts of the league with the pitch getting old. He was the leading wicket-taker for TN in Syed Mushtaq Ali and the TNPL. Except for this, there would not be much change unless any injury strikes.

MS Dhoni (capt), Ambati Rayudu, C Hari Nishanth, Cheteshwar Pujara, Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Harisankar Reddy, Imran Tahir, Josh Hazlewood, K Bhagath Varma, K Gowtham, Karn Sharma, KM Asif, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Narayan Jagadeesan, R Sai Kishore, Ravindra Jadeja, Robin Uthappa, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Suresh Raina.

Qualification.

Being 2nd in the points table they look to qualify for the playoffs. There are few issues with the foreign contingent. Faf Du Plessis and Bravo are not 100 percent fit with injuries in the CPL. Along with this, the English contingent will not be available for the whole tournament meaning Sam Curran and Moeen Ali the 2 main players would be leaving after the group stages. This means CSK would have serious concerns going into the playoffs with not enough foreign contingent if they qualify.
