A Rare Feat At The Asian Games

It would be a rare feat to know that a nation helps other nation to participate in global events. This happened at the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China. Water polo was not a popular sport among Asian women during the 2000s. But Water polo was included in the Games for it to gain popularity among the Asian countries.

There is a basic rule at the Games that for a sport to be played in the event minimum of 4 countries need to participate. Since not many countries came forward in sending their teams to the Games, only the likes of Uzbekistan, China, and Kazakhstan gave their names initially. They needed one more country to fill in the empty 4th spot.

China's Brilliant move.

China was a strong contender among all to win the gold medal in this event. So they began hunting for a team to participate. In doing so they approached the Indians and wanted them to participate. At that time India had a team but was not as strong to compete at a global level.

Chinese took over all the expenses from hospitality travel and brought the Indians to China. As expected Chinese won the gold medal beating all the other three comfortably. The Indians were defeated in all the matches they played.

At last, China achieved what they were vying for, the Gold Medal.
