6 Youngest Olympians Of All Time

1.Gaurika Singh.

At the age 13 Singh became the youngest to compete in swimming at Rio 2016 Olympics. What is more interesting is that she comes from a lesser-known country Nepal which in the past has not produced many Olympians. Achieving this feat would make many more to take up sports.

2. Dimitrios Loundras.

He started competing in the modern Olympics at its inception in 1896 held in Athens. Back then he was only 10yrs 218days old making him to date the youngest ever to participate and win a medal in the Olympics. Loundras competed in the team parallel bars event. In that competition, Loundras was a member of the Ethnikos Gymnastico Syllogo team that came third of the three teams in the event, giving him a bronze.

3. Inge Sorenson.

At the age of 12, she became the youngest in the individual category to claim a medal in the 1936 Olympics. At age 11 she won the Senior National Championship in Denmark earning a direct Olympic qualification quota in the backstroke event.

4. Donna de Varona.

In 1960 Verona qualified for the Olympics aged 13 in 4*100m freestyle relay. She was part of the US swimming relay team in the heats where the team qualified for the final. But she couldn't participate in the finals thereby not winning a medal. The US team had won gold in the event.

5. Hend Zaza.

At the age of 11, she could become the youngest to compete at Tokyo Olympics. Coming from a country like Syria which faces lots of political issues is a great achievement that too at such a young age.

Presently she will become the 5th youngest and the first from Syria (both Male and female) to compete in Table tennis.

6.Marjorie Gestring.

At the age of 13, she holds the record for 2nd youngest to win a gold medal overall during the 1936 Olympics. She competed in the Springboard diving event where the US team claimed the gold medal. In the 1940 Olympics, she won the gold medal aged 17 which was quite a remarkable feat.

Her career was cut short due to World War from where she couldn't make a comeback into Olympics thereafter.
